Jace Gomes Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, San Luis Obispo got the W thanks in part to Jace Gomes playing the best football he has all season. Gomes rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 163 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in October of 2023. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Gomes must have Pioneer Valley's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Gomes rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry the last time he and the Panthers duked it out back in September of 2023.

Underclassman Michael Trejo Major Player in Atascadero Victory
Underclassman Michael Trejo came into Friday's game looking to prove himself and that's exactly what he did. He was dynamite on Friday, rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 66 yards and a touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Atascadero's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Atascadero's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. Trejo and Atascadero will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Righetti at 12:00 p.m. on October 18th.
