After a string of six wins, the Suncoast Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Wellington by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Ian Smikle and Jamarey Harris certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Smikle scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Harris scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season.
Suncoast bumped their record down to 10-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Wellington, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season.
Suncoast's road trip will continue as they head out to face Dwyer at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Dwyer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Suncoast in Florida (Dwyer is ranked 26th, while Suncoast is ranked 149th). As for Wellington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
