The Tradition Prep Pirates were the 32-29 winner over the Sebastian River Sharks when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Tradition Prep was the victim of a tough 66-46 loss at the hands of the Sharks on Wednesday. Tradition Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Tradition Prep still got an impressive performance from Christian Arisi, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Armstrong, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Andrew Simpson, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds for Sebastian River. Simpson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Amarion Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Tradition Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Sebastian River, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tradition Prep will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Fork presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Florida (the Bulldogs are ranked 65th, while the Pirates are ranked 480th). As for Sebastian River, they will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martin County has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
