Southwood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Northfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. It'll be Northside v. Southside when the Southwood Knights and the Northfield Norsemen meet at 7:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Southwood lost to Adams Central at home by a 75-58 margin. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Flying Jets: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Southwood had strong showings from Bryce Wilcox, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards, and Emery Liddick, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 17 points. Wilcox has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Barney, who posted four points and five assists.
Even though they lost, Southwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Northfield came up short against Maconaquah on Tuesday and fell 61-54. While losing is never fun, the Norsemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Braves are ranked 121st).
Southwood will have to contain Tyson Baer as he made an impact in Northfield's last game. He went 7-for-10 to rack up 16 points and five boards. That's the most points Baer has posted since back in March of 2024. Carter Rodgers was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Southwood now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Northfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southwood has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southwood didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 37-32 win. Does Southwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
