The Shaw Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bedford. Shaw has not had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Bedford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JJ Hudson, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Terrell Pollard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Shaw dropped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Bedford, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shaw will take on the Scarabs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully the Cardinals likes a good challenge. As for Bedford, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Villa Angela-St. Joseph is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 68.8 points per game this season.
