The Sterling Silver Knights will be playing at home against the Gloucester City Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Sterling pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Camden 112-63. While losing is never fun, Sterling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Camden is ranked second).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-49, which was the final score in Gloucester City's tilt against Eastern on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Gloucester City had strong showings from Jake Smith, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Ryan James, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kadon Harris, who scored six points.
Sterling's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12. As for Gloucester City, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.
Sterling came up short against Gloucester City when the teams last played back in January, falling 53-49. Can Sterling avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
