The Immokalee Indians will head out on the road to take on the Dunbar Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Immokalee and 17 for the Tigers dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Immokalee suffered a rough 64-38 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats. Immokalee has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Dunbar came up short against the Bullsharks on Tuesday and fell 26-18.
Dunbar's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carmen Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten steals, and Daniya Maycock who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played.
Immokalee dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Dunbar, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Immokalee was dealt a bruising 77-38 loss at the hands of the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January of 2016. Thankfully for Immokalee, Ja'Miah Bland (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
