Delaware Academy had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 61-53 victory over the Walton Warriors on Thursday. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Walton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Walley almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Walley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Beardslee, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and five steals.
Delaware Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Walton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delaware Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Cooperstown at 8:00 p.m. on December 26th. As for Walton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Kortright Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
