The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Patrick. While losing is never fun, Nazareth Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while St. Patrick is ranked 84th).
Nazareth Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Matthew Callahan, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Eddie Austin who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Austin has scored all season. Talen Pearson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists.
Nazareth Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for St. Patrick, their win bumped their record up to 18-9.
Nazareth Academy will head out on the road to face off against Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Patrick, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Niles Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Patrick's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
