Baseball Recap: Tarboro Has No Trouble Against Hobgood Charter

The Tarboro Vikings made easy work of the Hobgood Charter Raiders on Wednesday and carried off a 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Browning made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Stephen Ribustello was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Tarboro: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Gabriel Kassnove was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Tarboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hobgood Charter only posted an OBP of .333.

Tarboro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hobgood Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Tarboro will head out on the road to square off against Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hobgood Charter, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bear Grass Charter at 6:00 p.m.
