The Mount Dora Hurricanes will challenge the Bishop Moore Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Mount Dora: 3.5, Bishop Moore: 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mount Dora will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Eustis, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Mount Dora walked away with a 6-2 win over Eustis on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Jacob James spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mount Dora is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Mount Dora's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Moore). They put the hurt on Montverde Academy with a sharp 18-4 win on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Hornets, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Tony Castro and JT Costello dominated on the mound. Castro tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Costello struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Bishop Moore got a massive performance out of Jesiah Woodside, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Woodside has posted since back in April of 2024. Will Kane was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Bishop Moore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bishop Moore pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Dora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Moore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Dora might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Bishop Moore in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Mount Dora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
