Annabelle Ulibarri made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Ulibarri was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, Marisol Salazar was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Aliana Otero also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
West Las Vegas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe Indian only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Silver faced Cobre in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Tuesday. The Fighting Colts were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Indians. Considering the Fighting Colts have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ariel Alvarado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Lucero, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Maria Ruelaz was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
West Las Vegas pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Silver, their record is now 12-3.
