After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Circle Christian, the Elite Prep Academy Eagles were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 39-38 victory over Crooms Academy. For Elite Prep Academy, this counts as revenge for the 44-38 loss Crooms Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Elite Prep Academy can attribute much of their success to D'Angelo Henry, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henry has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deontae Givens-West, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Crooms Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Parker, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Aristile, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Elite Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Crooms Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Elite Prep Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Crooms Academy, they will play host again and welcome Warner Christian Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Warner Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Monday.
