Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Leyton Warriors proved on Friday. They came out on top against South Platte by a score of 65-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Leyton.
Leyton was led to victory by Calvin Borgmann and Jonathan Kruse. Borgmann went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 2 assists, while Kruse dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kruse has scored at least 25% of Leyton's points. Another player making a difference was Alec Watchorn, who scored 7 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
South Platte's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quinten Koenen, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashle Richards, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
The victory got Leyton back to even at 2-2. As for South Platte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Leyton will be playing at home against Potter-Dix on Tuesday. As for South Platte, they will head out on the road to face off against Wauneta-Palisade at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wauneta-Palisade comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
