The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will head out to square off against the Canterbury Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shorecrest Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Shorecrest Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Indian Rocks Christian a 15-0 shutout. 15 seems to be a good number for the Chargers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Bobbie Strus made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Strus was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Shorecrest Prep let Paige Conroy and Madi Bidwell run wild. Conroy went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Bidwell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Bidwell a new career-high. Alexis Lavoie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Shorecrest Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Rocks Christian only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, Canterbury earned a 5-1 victory over Northside Christian on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.
Kaylah Berta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Tucker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Raina Fitzpatrick, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Shorecrest Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Canterbury, their record now sits at 7-15.
Canterbury's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shorecrest Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Canterbury, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Shorecrest Prep's hitters?
Shorecrest Prep suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Canterbury when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
