The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 59-51 to Bethany Christian. South Bend Career Academy lost against Bethany Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-35 score last time.
Leading Bethany Christian to victory were Jacoby Reinhardt and Tyson Chupp. Reinhardt scored 13 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds, while Chupp scored 25 points. Chupp also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Schlabach, who scored eight points.
South Bend Career Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Bethany Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Career Academy will challenge Mishawaka Marian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mishawaka Marian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Bethany Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Prairie Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Prairie Heights is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
