If Lincoln wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Marianna, they should've done a better job of containing Mason Mobley. The Marianna Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Lincoln Trojans on Saturday thanks in part to Mobley, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 24 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.
Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Kingsley Mutanga, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakhi Lowe, who put up eight points and eight rebounds.
The win made it two in a row for Marianna and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Marianna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-45 loss against Florida State University High School on the 3rd. As for Lincoln, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Leon at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Leon has won five straight at home, while Lincoln won ten straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
