The Lathrop Spartans were the 77-41 winner over the Venture Academy Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Lathrop took a serious blow against Venture Academy on Tuesday, falling 91-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Monday (56), Lathrop still had to take the loss.
Lathrop's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Cotton, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Reniel Crisostomo, who scored 16 points.
Venture Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcos Rosales out in front who scored 36 points along with 5 rebounds. Cameron Lowe was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with 9 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lathrop and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Venture Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lathrop is on the road again on Monday and play against Linden at 7:30 p.m. on December 4th. Venture Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mountain House at 7:15 p.m. on December 11th.
