The Alvord Bulldogs were the 55-16 winner over the Tom Bean Tomcats when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Alvord had to suffer through a rough 42-14 loss at the hands of Tom Bean. Alvord has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Although Alvord took the loss, they still got scores from Kooper Parker and Zane Fuentes.
Bobby Rogers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tom Bean, rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 248 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Maguire Poole, who picked up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Alvord to a paltry 77 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tom Bean's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was McKay Young and his two sacks.
Alvord has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Tom Bean, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alvord will face off against Whitewright at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitewright is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Tom Bean, they will head out on the road to face off against Nocona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nocona is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
