3A Region 5 recap October 1, 2013
Glencoe moved up to 196 from 222 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 5. The Yellowjackets climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Hokes Bluff 49-20.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Saks beat Alexandria 34-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Piedmont's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ty Sparks has thrown for 362 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Cj Savage has 8 catches for 282 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Saks takes on Glencoe. The Wildcats are currently in first, while Lee Ozmint's team is in fourth.
The Yellowjackets made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,799 from 7,550. The improvement was the result of a 49-20 victory over the Eagles last week.
