The South Plantation Paladins will square off against the NSU University Sharks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Plantation barely beat Fort Lauderdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. South Plantation blew past Fort Lauderdale 12-4 on Thursday. The Paladins haven't had any issues with the Flying L's recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Caleb Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Aidan Fitzgerald tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, John McDevitt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Lucas Decordova was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
South Plantation kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, NSU University posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Monsignor Pace.
Matthew Greenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rocco Rovetto, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Potter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
NSU University's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for South Plantation, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
