The South View Tigers lost against the Seventy-First Falcons back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South View took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seventy-First. While losing is never fun, South View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Seventy-First is ranked 86th).
Despite the loss, South View still got an impressive performance from Demarcus Spearman, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jakari Jordan, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Seventy-First was led to victory by Jacquez Foster and Mylon Campbell. Foster scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Campbell scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Foster is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Nance, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
South View's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Seventy-First, their win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will take on Douglas Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas Byrd is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Seventy-First, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gray's Creek is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
