This season hasn't been kind to The Lumberton Pirates, who are still winless after their tenth game. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-12 win over Purnell Swett on Friday. That looming 15-12 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lumberton yet this season.
Jacoby Pevia was a one-man wrecking crew for Lumberton as he rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Pevia's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Although Purnell Swett took the loss, they still got scores from Raymond Cummings and Jedidiah Wilkins.
Lumberton's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Jack Britt, Red Springs, and Clinton. As for Purnell Swett, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
