The Northside Eagles lost against the Peach County Trojans on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Northside's tough 56-32 defeat to the Trojans might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Trojans are ranked 135th).
Alexia Heyward was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds for Peach County. Heyward hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Atiana Gilcrist, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
Northside dropped their record down to 8-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Peach County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside will challenge the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Peach County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Knights at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. Upson-Lee is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
