The Randolph Ro-Hawks waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Nixon-Smiley with a 44-39 win. That's two games straight that Randolph has won by exactly five points.
Nixon-Smiley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendall Amaya, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Amaya has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Janaelyn White, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Randolph is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. As for Nixon-Smiley, they bumped their record down to 6-20 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Randolph will face off against Great Hearts Northern Oaks at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Great Hearts Northern Oaks comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will be playing at home against Marion at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
