Broadwater Academy (Exmore, Va.) 33-20 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured six lead swaps.
The Chargers led 13-7 at halftime, but the Vikings recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 9:00 left in the third.
By the end of the third, Isle of Wight Academy found itself trailing by 1 point as Broadwater Academy captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. BA scored on a touchdown run by
Adam Bowen in the quarter.
Zeb Warnick was the top performer for IWA. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Bowen played well for the Exmore school. The junior ran for two touchdowns.
The Vikings came in surrendering 16.4 points per game this season. Broadwater Academy struggled against the Isle of Wight school's offense, which entered the game scoring 34.6 points per game.
The Chargers also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 48-6.
The loss comes after Broadwater Academy defeated Kenston Forest 48-20 last week. The loss snapped BA's 2-game winning streak.
Isle of Wight Academy (5-1) will play a VISFA Virginia Commonwealth game against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot next week, while Broadwater Academy (4-2) will take on Chincoteague in a non-conference game.
