I Northern - High Desert recap Oct. 16, 2012
Reno extended the longest winning streak in I Northern - High Desert this week by beating Hug, 44-20. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Huskies.
Reed took down North Valleys 52-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mark Nowaczewski threw for 101 yards and ran for 122 yards in the win.
Spanish Springs's dynamic duo of Hunter Fralick and Vance Lively proved tough for McQueen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fralick threw for 423 yards and three touchdowns and Lively had 223 yards receiving. Gehrig Parks helped Spanish Springs' passing attack out by catching five balls for 86 yards.
Reed's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nowaczewski has thrown for 1903 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Devin Gray has 63 catches for 894 yards. Ty Shepard leads the league in rushing with 944 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Reno and the Raiders. The Huskies enters the contest ranked 13th in the state, while Reed ranks 20th.
Entering into this week's contest against Reno, Nowaczewski is short just 97 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Two of the top units in I Northern - High Desert will face off this week when the Raiders take on the Huskies. Reed's offense has recorded 312 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Reno has permitted only 166 on the year.
Shepard of the the Raiders is only 56 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Reno made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,960 from 4,301. The improvement was the result of 44-20 victory over the Hawks last week.
