The Dieterich Movin Maroons came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Charleston 42-23. Given Dieterich's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Charleston is ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dieterich was led to victory by Estella Meinhart and Miley Britton. Meinhart scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Britton scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Britton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brittney Niemerg, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds.
Dieterich's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Charleston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dieterich will be home for the holidays to greet Cumberland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Charleston, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Westville at 11:00 a.m. on December 16th. Westville is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
