Ashe County is 1-6 against South Caldwell since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ashe County Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the South Caldwell Spartans at 8:30 p.m. Ashe County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Ashe County pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-55 bruising from Freedom.
Ashe County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ian Graybeal, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Bryce Peters who scored 14 points along with two steals. Graybeal continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Blake Peters was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, South Caldwell entered their tilt with Alexander Central with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. South Caldwell narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Alexander Central 52-49. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but South Caldwell was the better team in the second half.
Ashe County has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for South Caldwell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Ashe County came up short against South Caldwell in their previous matchup back in January, falling 57-51. Can Ashe County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
