The Pinewood Prep Panthers lost against the Northwood Academy Chargers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pinewood Prep's tough 55-31 defeat to Northwood Academy might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Pinewood Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Northwood Academy is ranked 13th).
It was another big night for alayah birch, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 21 rebounds for Northwood Academy. Birch is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Jones, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Pinewood Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-21. As for Northwood Academy, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.
Pinewood Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwood Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northwood Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 contests.
