Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Olivia Lipps made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Bella Kaldy was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Rachael Morales was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Edwin O. Smith kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive games.
Edwin O. Smith's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for South Windsor, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Windsor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Edwin O. Smith struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Windsor couldn't quite finish off Edwin O. Smith in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
