The Quince Orchard Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 34-21 victory over Northwest. Given Quince Orchard's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Northwest is ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwest's loss came despite strong showings from Tony Berry and Jayden Vongprachanh-Nelson. Berry gained 109 total yards and two touchdowns, while Vongprachanh-Nelson threw for 190 yards and a touchdown.
Quince Orchard's win was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Northwest, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quince Orchard will take on Sherwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sherwood will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Northwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Einstein at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Einstein is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
