First Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Corinth Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will welcome the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
First Christian came out on top against Northside Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Lions put the hurt on Northside Christian Academy with a sharp 8-1 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with Northside Christian Academy recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Morgan Earnhart made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Preston, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Corinth Christian Academy). They blew past Open Bible Christian 19-4 last Thursday.
Like First Christian, Corinth Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Smith. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith is becoming a predictor of Corinth Christian Academy's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alden Hughes and Josiah Griffin did most of the damage at the plate: Hughes earned three RBI, one run, and two stolen bases, while Griffin earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. Hughes has become a key player for Corinth Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Jace Campbell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Corinth Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Corinth Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for First Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. First Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Corinth Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
First Christian took their win against Corinth Christian Academy in their previous meeting on April 3rd by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
