The Academy Wildcats struggled with threes on Tuesday (the Forge Christian Fury had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The Academy was dealt a 67-30 defeat at the hands of Forge Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for The Academy in their matchups with Forge Christian: they've now lost seven in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was CJ Hernandez, who scored nine points along with two blocks. Dominik Konarski was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Peyton Miller was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five assists and four steals for Forge Christian. Miller is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hovis, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
The Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Forge Christian, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
The Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays Peak to Peak at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Peak to Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Forge Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kent Denver at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forge Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
