Brylee Leonardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kady Lindstrom, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Estes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eagle Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Thurston beat North Eugene 9-6 on Friday.
Gabriella Montes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendall Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Thurston pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Eagle Point, their record now sits at 7-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eagle Point has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Thurston struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Point couldn't quite finish off Thurston when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
