The Danville Warriors waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 67-49 win over Frankfort. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Hot Dogs are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zachary Waits led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lawrence, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Frankfort lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alex Farley, who scored 18 points along with five steals. That was a full 36.7% of Frankfort's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kye Kirby, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Danville pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Frankfort, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Danville will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Northview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. Frankfort is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Bison at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Benton Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
