The Monroe Central Seminoles will be playing in front of their home fans against the River Pilots at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monroe Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 69-34 win over Catholic Central. Given Monroe Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Crusaders are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, River blew past the Cougars, posting a 48-19 victory at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for River.
Monroe Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 13-3 River (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.6% over those games). As for River, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Monroe Central came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pilots in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 64-62. Will Monroe Central repeat their success, or do the Pilots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
