The Park Crossing Thunderbirds will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Russell County Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Park Crossing comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Park Crossing came up short against Davidson and fell 21-12.
Park Crossing's loss came about despite a quality game from Solomon Beebe, who rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Russell County, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 63-27 loss at the hands of Pike Road. While losing is never fun, Russell County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Pike Road is ranked 29th).
Despite the defeat, Russell County saw an underclassman step up: Kelston Tarver rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Tarver was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Denver Harper, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Park Crossing to 3-5 and Russell County to 0-7.
Park Crossing might still be hurting after the 48-22 defeat they got from Russell County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Park Crossing have more luck at home instead of on the road?
