The Wilmot Panthers will venture away from home to take on the DePaul College Prep Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
On Friday, Wilmot came up short against St. Patrick and fell 7-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wilmot got a good showing from Nolan Sanew, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Wilmot saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Vozel, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Leo with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.
Connor Egan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Charlie Pribyl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Nolan Hecht was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
DePaul College Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.
DePaul College Prep pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wilmot, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilmot has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like DePaul College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
