Softball Game Preview: Crestview Bulldogs vs. Pace Patriots

The Crestview Bulldogs will head out to take on the Pace Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Crestview earned a 9-6 victory over South Walton.

The team relied heavily on Ava Secor, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Taeia Schriner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Pace put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Navarre a 10-0 shutout. The Patriots' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last nine contests.

Navarre's batters probably weren't too happy with Hannah DeMarcus, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up zero walks). DeMarcus has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Britten Kettler was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Abby McLean was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Pace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Crestview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Pace pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Crestview might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Pace in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Crestview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
