With a playoff game on the line, the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cowboys 50-14 at home. The victory was nothing new for St. Thomas Aquinas as they're now sitting on 13 straight.
Jordan Lyle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Lyle was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Indorf, who threw for 190 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes.
Special teams played a big role in the game for St. Thomas Aquinas, adding 14 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Francesco Pileggi: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
St. Thomas Aquinas' win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.27 points. As for Gaither, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.
St. Thomas Aquinas will square off against Homestead at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Homestead will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. Gaither does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
