Baseball Recap: Bradford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Smethport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bradford). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Smethport Hubbers on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Owls' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Aiden Willard and Talan Reese did most of the damage at the plate: Willard scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Reese scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Willard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Austin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The victory snapped Bradford's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Smethport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Bradford will challenge Warren at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Smethport, they have already played their next match, an 11-1 loss against Otto-Eldred on the 12th.
