Kaw Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Turner was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Kaw Valley. Earlier in the week, the Golden Bears defeated Bishop Ward 49-7.
Piper made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,347 from 4,258. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 29-23 victory over Bonner Springs last week.
SKLER WINDMILLER put up the best numbers through the air as Mill Valley beat Tonganoxie. He finished with a total of nine completions for 208 yards and three touchdowns. WINDMILLER's favorite target this week was STATON REBECK, who caught four passes for 81 yards.
Lucas Mein was the best wideout in the league this week as Lansing fell to Basehor-Linwood. Mein racked up six receptions for 105 yards. Khalil Bailey helped Lansing's passing attack out by catching two balls for 35 yards.
Alex Diaz made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lions lost to the Bobcats. The 5-foot-11 sophomore pulled down one interception.
Jordan Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 128 yards on 30 carries as the Braves fell to Basehor-Linwood. Teammate Jared Knernshield added to the ground attack by rushing for 47 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback WINDMILLER of the Jaguars is the league leader in passing yards this season with 851. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Steve Hopkins's team's Drew Potter has rushed for 456 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ben Johnson. The Basehor-Linwood star has 20 catches for 332 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bonner Springs takes on Mill Valley. As it stands, Lucas Aslin's team is in third, while Joel Applebee's team is in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Braves take on the Jaguars. Bonner Springs has allowed 50 points this season, while Mill Valley has given up 56. The Braves allowed 29 points last week as they fell to the Pirates.
