Greater Dakota recap Sept. 26, 2012
Jon Hander and Nathan Gerry provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Watertown. The longest such play in Greater Dakota this season, the connection resulted in 88 yards.
Washington extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Arrows, 58-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Warriors.
Dylan Bartow was the best wideout in the league this week as Lincoln lost to Brandon Valley. Bartow tallied 10 receptions for 143 yards. Caden Quintanillia helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching four balls for 64 yards.
Blake Stone was the most productive running back in Greater Dakota this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 135 yards as Rapid City Central lost to the Lynx. Teammate Asher Pikula added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Connor Burchill provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lincoln fell to Brandon Valley. He completed 24 passes for 310 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 15 yards.
Hander threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns. He went 10-16 with zero interceptions.
6-foot-2 quarterback Hander of Washington is the league leader in passing yards this season with 780. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Spearfish's Nate Rotert has rushed for 620 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Trevor Naasz. The Lincoln star has 10 catches for 265 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sturgis Brown takes on Aaron Beavers's team. As it stands, Sturgis Brown is in seventh, while the Patriots are in fourth.
O'Gorman was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Knights defeated Clint Nelson's team 50-0.
