The Queen's Grant Stallions on the road again on Thursday and play against the Albemarle Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Queen's Grant ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Valor Preparatory Academy by a score of 64-55. The win was just what Queen's Grant needed coming off of a 79-50 defeat in their prior contest.
Queen's Grant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jermaine Moncrieffe, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Moncrieffe hasn't dropped below two blocks for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Shamberger, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Albemarle came up short against North Stanly on Tuesday and fell 78-67. While losing is never fun, Albemarle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while North Stanly is ranked 308th).
The victory got Queen's Grant back to even at 9-9. As for Albemarle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Queen's Grant took a serious blow against Albemarle when the teams last played back in February of 2017, falling 76-49. Can Queen's Grant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
