Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact the South Guilford HomeSchool Cougars proved on Friday. They walked away with a 44-34 victory over Union Grove Christian. Given South Guilford HomeSchool's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Patriots are ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Guilford HomeSchool got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailey Bullins out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taliya Davis, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
Union Grove Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordyn Delaney, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hanes, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
South Guilford HomeSchool is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Union Grove Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
South Guilford HomeSchool will play host again and welcome the Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Grove Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Conquerors at 5:15 p.m. on February 5th.
