Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Calexico's Winning Streak

After flying high against Southwest EC last Monday, Calexico came back down to earth. The Calexico Bulldogs fell 58-45 to the Foothills Christian Knights on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Knights are ranked 701st).

Foothills Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Patrick Delahoussaye out in front who posted 20 points. The match was Delahoussaye's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bowen, who earned 14 points.

Calexico moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Foothills Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-7.

Calexico will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley Center at 3:00 p.m. on December 26th. Foothills Christian will take on Maranatha Christian in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Foothills Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
