Baseball Recap: Bigfork Wins High-Profile Contest Against Polson

Bigfork faced Polson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Vikings & Valkyries narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pirates 7-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings & Valkyries, who have now won four contests in a row.

Ryeln Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Bigfork is undefeated when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sam Plummer, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Bigfork pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Polson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Bigfork is set to challenge their familiar foe Browning at 4:00 p.m. on May 8. Meanwhile, Polson will face off against rival Ronan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
