Petaluma and Casa Grande are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Petaluma had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Napa on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Petaluma got a great performance from Taylor Cook as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Cook has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lauren Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Petaluma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Napa only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Casa Grande). They put the hurt on American Canyon with a sharp 19-1 win on Wednesday. The Gauchos haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Alex Giacomini, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Ketchu, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Petaluma is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, they pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Petaluma came up short against Casa Grande when the teams last played on April 2nd, falling 5-0. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
