Carver extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 3 this week by beating Smiths Station, 41-10. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wolverines.
Auburn led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Lee. Gevon Jones ran for 115 yards in the win.
Carver's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jeremy Johnson threw for 294 and four touchdowns and Landy Capetillo had 129 yards receiving. On the ground Harvey Harris chipped in 118 yards. Harris helped Carver's passing attack out by catching one ball for 66 yards.
Antreal Allen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers beat the Generals. The defensive back forced one fumble.
Carver's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 2097 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, while Capetillo has 30 catches for 626 yards. Harris leads the league in rushing with 987 yards.
The marquee game in 6A Region 3 this week will be the clash between Auburn and Opelika. Tim Carter's team enters the game ranked sixth in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks 14th.
Billy Gresham's team's Harris is a mere 13 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Opelika. Auburn has allowed 141 points this season, while Brian Blackmon's team has given up 103. The Tigers allowed 28 points last week as they defeated Lee.
The Poets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,761 from 5,266. The advance stemmed from a 48-32 victory over Lanier last week.
